VERONNICA LESEGO PHIRI BREAKING YOUTH BOUNDARIES

Meet Veronnica Lesego Phiri. We took a moment to interview a 19 years of age Junior Community Leader at Digital Girl Africa, Brand Representative and a woman who aims to be a pillar of strength to young African women.

Veronnica, a Junior Community Leader at Digital Girl Africa, a digital hub in Africa that educates, inspire and connects young women in digital technology. How did you get there and what are your duties as a leader in the organization?
”I got introduced to Digital Girl Africa through social media. My duties at a Junior Community Leader at Digital Girl Africa, I use the digital media to inspire young women in Africa. Also sharing some of my experiences.”

This is amazing, equipping young women with these necessary skills to get ready to take on the world in the forth industrial revolution. What’s your take on people who refuse to adapt to technological changes and a direction that the world is moving in?

”My take on especially our young generation who refuse to adapt to the technological changes is quite worrisome, reason being that we are currently living in a world where  almost everything is technology and by the looks of things, technology is becoming even bigger which  tells me that it might be a huge disadvantage to our people who refuse to adapt to it.”

With all this, you’re also a brand representative, your Instagram feed screams this. Absolutely beautiful and clean. Which brands have you collaborated with?

”I have been in collaboration with Silky Hair & Beauty, Bio-Oil in reviewing their Dry Skin Gel. I am currently working towards representing a young fashion designer and more projects will be announced soon.”

Do you have a certain niche when it comes to collaborating with brands or you’re diverse?

”I don’t have a certain niche, I am definitely diverse.”

I understand that many doors have been closed for you regarding your age/experience, can we go deeper in this? I believe a lot of young entrepreneurs face the same issue in our society, this includes me. If you were given an opportunity to talk to brands/people who have declined you judging from the above what would you say?

”If I had the opportunity to talk to the brands I would definitely say that, with every new generation, old rules have to be reconsidered or thrown out when ineffective. We are currently living in a generation where young women and men kickstart their careers at a young age. Now this is something that needs to be normalized. If Kylie Jenner can embark on her beauty business at the age of 18, why can’t the rest of our generation do so. It’s time they open more opportunities for the younger generation.”

There you have it! It’s a given fact that the younger you start working on a certain skill or dream that you have, the more experience you’re likely to gain. That’s just the way it works. Follow Veronnica on Instagram @ms.veronnica
